Oh, What a Wednesday!

Dexter and Joaquin cleaned the room REALLY good. A great way to start the day.

After much coaxing and a knot the size of my chubby fist, Waylon let me braid his hair. He was afraid that I was going to cut off his beautiful brown curly locks. No way babycakes!

We lounged outside and I read them some Gary Soto books. I love his Chato series.

This is Hezzie's set up. He was playing while I was reading. Those are my chubby little Betty Rubble feets.

BayLee enjoyed the book even though, it was about cats.

Hezzie and his teacher. She comes to help with his speech delay. See the tear in the couch...BayLee is still a puppy. That holey blanket was bought when Joaquin was a newborn. We needed a new one that wasn't so heavy and this is what I found.

Dexter on his way to Jazz and Blues guitar lessons with Jackson. It went amazing and he is even more stoked about music. His life is amazing right now.

Oh, What A Weekend!

This weekend was so crazy in a very good way. I did some writing on request and was told it was really amazing. That made my weekend amazing right there. That was great. Maggie spent Friday night at a big slumber party. Apparently she was cracking jokes and being fun. I am glad I opted out of being a helper so she could be herself. This warms my heart. I would share a picture but, unsure of some of the parents wanting their kids on my blog.

Saturday, I joined a group on Facebook called The Full Body Project. I submitted a picture and this is it. This is what I wore Saturday during the day. New dresses make me smile. Well, new to me ones.

Saturday night I went to an old school friends house. They have a bar in their garage. It wa spretty awesome and I may have drank a bit too much. Well, enough to talk way too much on the way home and in text. But, nothing I said was lies or regrets. Just me bold on wine and some kind of vodka drink. Which I will be making soon.

Sunday was so busy but, not in a bad "I want to go home and die" kind of way. My friend Jessica (who does my tattoos) went on a wild adventure to find a place to walk/hike in the rain. It was so much fun. We ended up at a park with a hilly path. Since there was water flow from the rain we had to do some jumping.

I fell on some slippery mud and rocks. I laughed because it was pretty funny. We had a ball.

Jessica made Waylon his own Martian. He loves is and has named it Google Chrome. He likes that it has a rocket toy. I think it will be well loved.

Feathered and Fur Friends

Yes, we got some more animals. We now also have a guinea pig and a bird. The kids are very excited and love them already. Maggie holds the guinea pig like a baby. Joaquin and the bird have become fast friends. The bird sits on his shoulder and also, now on his finger no pecking! He is very excited.

Joaquin has Autism as I have mentioned before. When he has something of a living, breathing companion he feels secure. I have always found it interesting that he loves birds. They have flight and in some ways that seems gravity defying. Joaquin has sensations quite often that he is losing his gravitational pull. He was get visibly and vocally upset. He needs rocks in his pocket and....someone to hold is soft pudgy hands.

Maggie probably has ADHD, and maybe be Bi-Polar. This is what has been suggested but, without proper diagnosis. Either way, like Joaquin we still love her. Animals calm her down so much. She has her lab/pit mix lay down with her and he spoons her face to face. She will close her eyes and strokes his coat and everything is good. Small animals give her something beyond herself to care for and nurture. She loves this.

These a few of the reasons I don't mind having various animals around.

I am a Momma

I know most girls dreamed of being a mom or on the arm of Kirk  Cameron when I was younger. My dream was of child free days and world travel. I dreamed of living on nothing and writing books that would make my mom blush and my stepmom question my sanity. Then I was eighteen and living my other dream, being a Marine.

When I was stationed in North Carolina at  Camp Johnson also known as Montford Point. I met a dashing young man who was nineteen. He was tall, thin, light haired and blue eyed. He seem wordly and unlike the other Marines well read. My life as I knew it was changing. Although, for quite some time I only admitted liking him as a friend, I knew I was lying. How much of a lie? Like saying I rock a Kardashian body right now.

That was 1994 and lets fast forward to 2011. Here I am! I have six kids (including my stepdaughter). My life is my kids. Of course I sometimes wonder had I taken a different road if I would be that world traveler? that novelist? that NYC girl I dreamed of?  Then I realize life is much better that I had expected.

I have written a novel although, it remains un-submitted. I have traveled to one other country and don't know if I could handle NYC. I still have an edge and sometimes act like I don't like my husband.

co-sleeeping

I wish I had not lost my pictures. We started co-sleeping with our oldest son from day two. The first night I was at the hospital with him. It just seemed easier to have him in our bed with us. Afterall, I was breastfeeding and had no need to leave the bed. At the time I had no clue of the term "co-sleeping", I just knew that it felt right. So we have continued the practice with all five of our kids. In 11 years we have had many size beds from two twin beds pushed together, full, queen, california king and now a full and twin pushed together.

The kids who still wander in at night like to crawl into the twin bed. They feel like it's their own bed yet, they are still close to us. The littlest still sleeps with us unless he falls asleep on th couch. He loves the couch. I don't blame him it's comfy.

Sometimes in the morning I have even been woken by a dog or two crawling into bed. Imagine a big lab or husky snuggling a baby or two. This is all just part if  a journey. An amazing journey to keep our family close and secure. If I had to go back the only I would change would be the have a giant bed from day one.

The journey still continues.....as does my love for our kids.
