Oh, What a Wednesday!

Dexter and Joaquin cleaned the room REALLY good. A great way to start the day.

After much coaxing and a knot the size of my chubby fist, Waylon let me braid his hair. He was afraid that I was going to cut off his beautiful brown curly locks. No way babycakes!

We lounged outside and I read them some Gary Soto books. I love his Chato series.

This is Hezzie's set up. He was playing while I was reading. Those are my chubby little Betty Rubble feets.

BayLee enjoyed the book even though, it was about cats.

Hezzie and his teacher. She comes to help with his speech delay. See the tear in the couch...BayLee is still a puppy. That holey blanket was bought when Joaquin was a newborn. We needed a new one that wasn't so heavy and this is what I found.

Dexter on his way to Jazz and Blues guitar lessons with Jackson. It went amazing and he is even more stoked about music. His life is amazing right now.

Oh, What A Week!

I have purple hair and my Eddie Veddar album came. Am I too old for colorful hair? or too young? I think it's the right hue. I get lots of compliments when I am out with my purple and black hair with red lips. Mostly from drunk cholos and old white women. I love old women in general. So those compliments make me happy.

For some reason I thought a trail walk in 100 degree weather would be fun. Well, it was and we even had lunch. Where are my kids hats? That's right we don't need any stinken hats. We left shortly after this for a friend emergency and enjoyed the rest of the day pool side and inside.

Wednesday, I went to an old friends house. We have not seen each other in over 15 years. He is still very much himself and we have more in common now. It was a great day visiting him and his family. We talked, drank honey tea and played video games. His kids and mine got a long famously and I smell a betrothal between his oldest son and my daughter. I like when I get together with old friends and it's like a day has not passed.

Today my Lego loving, thrift shopping boy turned nine. Oh my goodness can he be nine? Apparently so. I was gone the first part of the day on an emotional journey of getting a friend for a mental hold at a hospital and taking another one to the cemetery after 20 years to visit her oldest daughter. When I came back into town it was all about Joaquin. He had a Neapolitan shake, went to Target for Legos and went thrift shopping at The Goodwill Store. We came home for dinner and cake. It was a good day. I feel badly we missed the Katy Perry concert but, she returns to LA in November. I think we have a date coming up.

No Ordinary Day

I know my last post must have me looking like a whiny brat. We have had some good times, some great times even. There was this one time when we had taken the kids to Temecula. We went to a BBQ house on a whim ate and hung out for awhile. I remember the waiter, he was amazing. Joaquin was still not talking really and screeched a lot and was always spilling stuff. We rarely ate out because, we always had bad vibes. But, this was no ordinary day. Joaquin did screech some and spilled quite a few drinks but, we were ok. We were happy and relaxed. We walked downtown to some shops, Jimmy bought a Raggedy Ann and Andy for Maggie and Waylon.

We ventured down some more to listen to some amazing bluegrass. Walked around some more and headed for the duck pond. The kids had an amazing time and so did we. We fed bread to the ducks and hung out. I know Jimmy didn't care to be there at first but, came to enjoy it.I know everyday of my life can not be like this. I know life has it's ups and downs. It is days like this I am looking back on, and am wondering if they will ever come to exist again.

Can we be a family who can go out and enjoy a day so amazing again. We have five kids now, and don't do many things. I like doing things and escaping the walls that surround me everyday. I like parks and hiking, I like beaches and mountains. I like camping and bike riding. I like roller skating and bowling. I know the kids would love these things as well, if we would just do them.

Like I said, lots to consider. Will I be well of on my own, hell no! Will the kids have amazing gadgets and stuff, not likely. But, it isn't about gadgets and things, it's about simple memories and not seeing mom and dad cry all the time.
