I have been out in the garden more these days. Thank you summer for coming around. I have been able to pick various beans and peas. YUM! Although, my garden is much smaller than last year I am still happy. At one point I thought I had lost it all. So I am pleasantly pleased to say the least.

I have some hopes of having more time with some old friends this summer. Lots of plans nothing real definite except, Saturday night. Sometimes I overthink I pressume people will have a horrible time with me. Then I realize if I am not cool enough for them, it's because I am a nerd. Oh, I know that I am but, it is okay.

In other news I started walking again. Lucky me I have been encouraged in my weightloss by my husband and my good friend Jeremy. Jimmy is going to get me some new shoes since my little weightloss has shrunk my feet and blisters are not fun.

This weekend we plan on going to a PowWow and scarfing on Indian Tacos. Wonder if I will be awake enough for Saturday night?

Living: Concert with the Big Kid

I purposed myself to start living this year. To stop saying all the stuff I want to do, and just do it. My son and I love music. We almost always have  music on in the house. My husband also loves music, but is always busy being busy doing busy stuff. Anyhow, he likes Third Eye Blind. My husband and I saw them in concert 13 years ago in North Carolina. It was an awesome time and gave my mind a break from a miscarriage I had weeks before.

I saw that they were playing locally at the Temecula Valley Balloon and Wine Festival.  My mind raced back to 1998 and being 21.  Memories of that night are vivid.  I went to an autograph signing at Planet Rock and then off to the concert. Jimmy met me there as did some of the high school kids who thought we were cool. The music was awesome and the crowd of drunk Marines and Sailors was really great to be in.

Well, we went yesterday to see them and Candlebox. My son was kind of whiney and we reassured him once the concert began he would enjoy himself. He was upset tall people were in front of him and he could not see. We told him this is often how these things are and just enjoy the music. At onc epoint I had him sit in some abandoned lawn chair. Told him to listen to the music and look up at the starry sky. He did, and even though him and his dad were cold (hard headed) he did enjoy himself. We left slightly befoire it was over to avoid traffic but, could hear them rock their last song.

All in all it was a good time. It was not planned way ahead and even with little money brought for extras we enjoyed it. He enjoyed it and maybe next time he will remember a hoodie.

Weekend Wrap Up

We gathered a bit of food for Stamp Out Hunger.

Some of this food was given to us. Even with slim times for us we like to pay it forward.

We rode the bikes down to Estudillo Mansion for the Green Coalition's Bike Fair.

I can honestly say it was fun. All the kids except Hezzie got a new helmet. Nobody had one prior to that. There was a fun safety course that even I did. Clowns, music and some food.

There is a bit of a nature preserve and water garden we explored. It was wonderful and beautiful.

Yesterday was a pretty amazing day when it was all said and done. I love photo documenting things. Thanks to the Bloggie I got for Christmas...I do. Here are some pictures from yesterday.

Thinking of 35

 

I turned 35 on May 2nd. I had been sick the previous week with some crazy flu and then when I started th feel better my period made an appearance.  Since I turned 27, I have not really felt any older and even tweeted about it.  Yesterday as I was out in my backyard/garden I snapped some pictures of myself.

On my forehead are tiny lines(wrinkles), they stretch just through the middle. Part of the aging process, beautiful and natural. My nose is wide and on the top is a scar from fourth grade chicken pox. On my left eyebrow there is a scar from playing and running from my German Shepard in a rocking backyard. I have moles and freckles here and there. They are all apart of what makes me, ME.

I brushed my dreads out last week because nothing was really happening with them and having had some high fevers it all felt greasy.  My hair is still black as can be, still no signs of silver. My grandfather was into his 70's before he had any silver, mom dyes hers out. Sometimes I imagine when it does come in it'll be a cool streak like Mrs. Munster.

See, unlike many woman I know I embrace aging, granted I am on 35 right now. I look forward to the days when my kids kids are on my lap. I look forward to when my husband can retire and we can just do things without work on Monday. I look forward to seeing my children living their passions. I am glad to be 35 moving towards 36.

Saturday

Got to say it has been good. When with my mom and brother for a mothers day brunch. It was nice and ran into some old friends from school.
Came home and relaxed. The kids found a lizard skin out back. Waylon took the most interest in it. He knew it was shed because the lizard grew to big for the skin.

 

It always amazes me what kids know. They learn and discover so many things and I am here to help them along the journey. The journey so far has been really amazing.

Ah Life

Getting the house ready for summer....spring has been nice. I have mason jars with roses in two rooms and am loving that I get them from my own yard. Kids are enjoying being outside in the pool and the garden. Waylon frequently lounges in the papasan looking at books or playing on daddy's iPhone. The corn is over 6 inches tall now and the onions are coming a long well.

We are looking into getting another gazebo so we can put the dining table outside. I love eating outside in the warm weather. It's so nice.

The kids have been enjoying the K'nex and Lincoln Logs I found at the Goodwill Store this week. Joaquin especially loves the K'nex. I think I am gonna search then out in thrift stores and Craigslist.

Looking forward to visiting some missions this summer.

Oh Wednesday

Woke up to a wonderfully clean out and quiet. Unlike most days  was up before any kids. Jimmy was already gone to work so I cracked open the blinds and poured myself a cup of coffee. Had some time to read NPR, BBC and Al Jazeera. Yes, I am a news snob and read the news from the best sources. Music played softly in the background while I read and enjoyed the sun fully rising. As soon as the kids starting coming to we started opening the windows and putting the ceiling fans on. Life is always good when it's not 90 degrees in the house.

Hezzie had a great visit with his teacher. She is amazing and real. She includes his younger siblings in her thoughts and brought balloons yesterday. It was like a party with these orange things floating through the air and the kids laughing...louder and louder and louder.

When Jimmy got home we took Maggie and Hezzie to the library. It was a Cesar Chavez celebration that I say, did not meet my expectations. It was a story, a less than informative slide show and a worksheet. Okay...but, I did get some good info on volunteering in the summer with the kids program...go me. The kids ended up playing with puzzles and games.

We headed down to the community garden afterwards. Jimmy dig out this huge weed whose root was like a small tree...no joke. (note: that is not even the whole root). He went back home with all the kids and I stayed and did more weeding and watering. I also did a video.

On my walk home I took a wonderful picture of what grows randomly. Not sure if this is part of the house or the church in borders.
