Oh, What A Spectacle!

So tomorrow Jimmy and I will celebrate 12 years of marriage. Am I really that old? Obviously, I was 22 when I got married...do that math.

We were supposed to go out tomorrow to Subway and to thrift shop. Hezzie needs to be carefully watched though, so we are staying home. Jimmy is smoking ribs, I will make some potato salad and our friend Colene is coming over. Let's hope the rain/sleet/hail will stop so the kids can enjoy the outside.

We made some Brown Sugar BBQ Sauce today. We made it the easy way. I also made eight jars of cornbread mix. Cornbread is one of my favorite things because, you can add so much to it....cheese, bacon, jalapenos...I can go on.

Also, today I downloaded some amazing world music from Amazon. I am in love with the compilation. If you love music at all, you will love this.

Nothing real exciting to report. Today has been a cold, wet Saturday. I really wish I could have walked with some green pola dotted rain boots and a yellow coat down the road. But, I did not. Hezzie and his foot are on the mend and that makes momma smile.

 I have no words for this outfit. For some reason she thinks she lives in Tennessee and it's summer time. Hopefully, this phase passes soon.

Apparently they have never seen Charlie's grandparents in bed. Head to foot people. Well, at least they had a nice nap.

This guy is names Jimmy. In two days we celebrate 12 years of marriage. What can I say? He makes me want to slap him and kiss him in a span of one minute. He puts up with my quirks and hair brained ideas.

These two...oh I am sure before I went outside they were up to some kind of Phineas and Ferb scheme. Can you tell they are brothers and love each other?

I love pyrex, I love breadmaking and it's complete heaven when I can combine the two.

Update on Mr. Hez

He will be having surgery in the morning. I honestly wish they would have given me an estimated time. But, I am happy it is being done and will be resolved. His foot still looks nasty but, it's more the surface and the nasty is coming out.

Staph and Mr. Hez

So apparently his infection in his foot is some sort of staph. The name escapes me right now. I have no idea why his face is black but, it is coming off. Hez fell asleep around eight om and slept through his IV being inserted, a foot soak and a foot wrap.

This morning he had some blood drawn and he did not even cry, just kind of whimpered. He is eating okay now and drinking tons. The nurses here have been great, honestly I am surprised by it all. Horror stories from this hospital make me leary and all a few bad first hand experiences.

The nurse brought him in a TV with a DVD/VCR since for some reason we don't get PBS. How odd is that? He is watching Barney while he snuggles Buzz and Woody.

We had a heck of a time getting a babysitter so Jimmy can come up here. People acting like we are trying to go party and never come home. One person right out did not respond and we pay her phone bill in exchange for babysitting. Another person said she is not allowed to babysit for free, I always pay her. GRRR! Well, my brother who lives over the hill is going to. Granted kids are not his speciality he is still coming. Jimmy went to get him. I am really praying his is here by the time the orthopedic surgeon gets here.

More pantry filling and Thrifting

Filling my cabinets is coming along rather nicely. Tonight Jimmy and I made some "Loverly Orange Marmalade". There was a bit left in the pot that was already turning to jelly so I snacthed it up....OH EM GEE! It is delicious. Of course it was fantatsic it was on some Hawiian Bread rolls...yes, I am a fattie and love my foods.

I now have a Crockpot and am looking forward to adding apple butter to my food. Making it in a crockpot is always so nice and it comes out...incredible. The kids want to make applesauce as well, I can already say, we will needs LOTS of that, kids love that stuff.

Jimmy wants to make and can some marinara sauce. So that is something on our to do list of pantry items.

We had a babysitter today so we also hit one thrift store. By far our fave, Angel View. We founds some great sppons and forks. While looking around we also found some cassette tapes for Dexter so he can record himself and some great t-shirts. I was lucky enough to find three tops for me. There was one dress, a wrap dress I saw and fell in love with alas, it was too small. My heart sank as I convinced myself that I should hang her up so she'd go to a proper home. Some thin tall woman picked her up and I looked away.

Today was also a day of music. iTunes and my iPhone bring me all my music as of late. In my ears are The Felice Brothers and The Twilight Singers. Please, check them out and if you don't "SHAME ON YOU!" My house is clean and so are my clothes, this week should be great.

Hippie Homemaker

Yes, I am a barefoot hippie homemaker. Granted my husband calls me a hipster...maybe I fall somewhere in the middle. Currently I am on a venture to stock my pantry full of Mason Jars full of things for my family to feast on. Homemade jams, cookie ingredients, soups and the like. My thought and hope is that in leaner times, I will have things to fall back on, or on a super busy day I can grab something to make and it will not be from a box or a drive-through.

So far I have put Oatmeal Raisin Cookes, Cranberry Raisin Cookies in a jar and made some peach jam. Future items will be Orange Marmalade, marinara sauce and salsa. Another plan is to make casseroles to freeze and bread dough.

I am also in the market for an ice cream maker so I can make and freeze ice cream from fresh in season fruit. Tonight I made fresh pasta and it was good. Soon I will be hosting a homemade food/craft exchange I am hoping that turns out good.

I am also hoping that by this summer we can have our own egg laying chickens, fresh organic brown eggs with golden yolks sound yummy.

One of the many things rewarding about making these types of things: my kids love helping. They love measuring out things and reading recipes. So even though it make take longer to do, it's fun and a great learning experience.

It has been awhile. I was waiting for my new ATM card to come in to pay for my service. Needless to say, it still has not come in so I used Jimmy's. The kids and I seem to be having a very creative year so far and what is not to love about that? 2011 has already seen it's fair share of craziness as well.

The new year started off with a bunch of staples in Waylon's leg and on Valentines Day Hezekiah got a piece of a toothpick lodged in his foot. I felt like a horrible mom both times and was sure CPS would be knocking at my door. Thank the good Lord above they have not, Yesterday the toothpick fragment was extracted from his foot with a good amount of blood and slicing. Waylon's leg was an ordeal as he is super strong and quite the screamer...needless to say they won't be forgetting him anytime soon.

I have started hopping but, with recent issues was knocked on my butt for a bit glad that is ending. I am getting some teeth extracted...sounds glamorous.

We finally have a couch instead of a futon, I feel so adult at teh age  of 34. Granted I loved the futon but, there was not any seating room for more than three or four people. We got a loverly orangish color sectional from The Salvation Army, I love second hand shopping.

Dexter is becoming quite the guitarist and has learned a few things on the 12 string. His passion is music, he's a snob!

Life is getting better.
